What is an Affirmative Action Plan (AAP)?

An Affirmative Action plan or program is a management tool designed to ensure equal employment opportunity (EEO) for job applicants and employees in all aspects of personnel activity regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, protected veteran or an individual with disability status. Self-audit and reporting efforts are utilized to identify and correct barriers to EEO, as well as positive outreach, recruitment, education and training efforts to attract a diverse and qualified population of candidates for employment consideration.

Affirmative Action Compliance

Federal contractors or sub-contractors have certain non-discrimination and affirmative action (AA) planning obligations, including maintaining a written affirmative action plan (AAP) annually. These obligations are enforced by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), primarily through what are known as compliance evaluations, or more commonly referred to as audits.
